NEW PARTNERSHIP EXTENDS HOME CARE TO NORTHERN EMIRATES

The service covers post-hospital discharge care, pediatric and senior care, physiotherapy, mother and baby services, and wound care, among others.

Home care services have been extended to the Northern Emirates from Sunday after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Thumbay Hospital Group and Manzil Healthcare Services.

The hospital and the home care service provider will exchange best practices, medical professionals and consultants from the Thumbay Hospital in Ajman to extend their services to the residents.

Manzil Healthcare is a home care provider that employs licensed healthcare professionals who can meet medical treatment needs and professional caregivers who can assist patients in their daily activities. The service covers post-hospital discharge care, paediatric and senior care, physiotherapy, mother and baby services, and wound care, among others.

Speaking to Khaleej Times on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Akbar Moideen, vice-president of healthcare division at the Thumbay Group, said both groups are in talks with insurance companies. “Several insurance companies are now including home care services in their packages. The insurance policies will also be based on the number of patients in this area.

“This collaboration will add strength to the clinical expertise of Manzil Healthcare, giving them access to Thumbay’s team of medical experts,” he added. The MoU was signed in the presence of Thumbay Moideen, president of Thumbay Group, and Juanita Coetzee, COO of Manzil Healthcare Services.

    Understanding home care

Dr Sarper Tanli, group CEO of Manzil Healthcare Services, said: “Nearly 50 per cent of the bed-bound patients under the care of Manzil suffer from lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension.”

According to Dr Sarper, the awareness and knowledge surrounding home care in the UAE has definitely improved over the last eight years. “A total of 85 per cent of bed-bound patients have a genetic disorder. In this case, 30 per cent are paediatric cases.”

Dr Sarper told Khaleej Times that the perceptions of home care are rapidly changing as people are realising that home care is more than just a ‘stay-at-home nurse service’.
